A staff member reviews your application, explains your options, and puts your name on the waiting lists of the housing providers you pick (public, non-profit, and co-op housing).

The fine print

More details about the money

With RGI, you generally pay rent based on about 30% of your household's gross monthly income, and the subsidy covers the rest. Wait times are long (often several years).

Amounts and eligibility change. Confirm the current figure with the program administrator through the official link before you rely on it.

The full eligibility rules

Households with low to moderate income. You must be 16 or older and able to live on your own; everyone in the household must be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, or refugee claimant; no one may owe money for rent or damage to any Ontario community housing unit; and your household income must be below the limit for the community.
