Shelter Allowance Program (Allocation-logement)
This gives you up to $170 a month if you have a low income in Quebec and spend too much of it on housing. You can get it whether you rent, own, or pay rent to someone you live with. It is run by Revenu Quebec for the Societe d'habitation du Quebec.

The full eligibility rules
For the October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026 period: you must not have been exempt from income tax for 2024. You (or your spouse) must have at least one dependent child OR be 50 or over by September 30, 2026. You must own your dwelling, rent an eligible dwelling (room, apartment or house), or live with a person you pay rent to. On December 31, 2024, the combined value of your (and your spouse's) bank accounts, TFSAs and investments must not have exceeded $50,000 (FHSAs and registered plans such as RRSP, RDSP, LIRA and RRIF are not counted). You must have spent at least 30% of your 2024 family income on housing, and your 2024 family income must be below the maximum for your family situation.
