This gives you a tax-free payment each month to help with the cost of raising kids under 18. For each child under 6 you can get up to $7,997 a year ($666.41 a month). For each child aged 6 to 17 you can get up to $6,748 a year ($562.33 a month). If your child qualifies for the Disability Tax Credit, you can get up to $3,411 more a year. You get the most when your family income is below $37,487.

For July 2025 to June 2026 (based on 2024 income), maximum per child: $7,997/year ($666.41/month) for a child under 6, and $6,748/year ($562.33/month) for a child aged 6 to 17. An additional Child Disability Benefit of up to $3,411/year ($284.25/month) is available per child eligible for the Disability Tax Credit. You get the maximum amount when AFNI is below $37,487; the benefit is reduced above that.

You live with and are primarily responsible for a child under 18, you are a resident of Canada for tax purposes, and you (or your spouse/common-law partner) are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person, or eligible temporary resident. The amount is income-tested on adjusted family net income (AFNI).
