Nova Scotia Income Assistance (ESIA) - Standard Household Rate

Nova Scotia's ESIA program gives you a set amount each month that covers your basics, including shelter, food, and utilities. The amount depends on your household size and whether you rent, own, or board. For example, a single person who rents or owns gets $738 a month. Some single people qualify for an Enhanced rate of $1,022 a month.

Good to know

All Standard Household Rate, Board, and Enhanced Standard Household Rate ($1,022/month) figures were confirmed verbatim against the official novascotia.ca 'what you receive' page. The shelter component is bundled into the Standard Household Rate rather than paid as a separate shelter allowance. Rates change periodically; confirm current figures with Community Services.
